Welcome to Let Them Eat Static, my monthly(ish) newsletter. Balancing a family with three kids and oodles of creative pursuits means there’s never a dull moment. Here’s what I’ve been up to…
🎥Film
My new short film is done! The Fawn is cosmic horror, folk horror, experimental, and unlike anything I’ve worked on before. Here’s the poster.
Official Logline: Trapped in a surreal landscape, a woman discovers she is the sacrifice in a ritual meant to awaken something unspeakable.
Finishing a movie is always a big deal for me. It’s like the closing of a chapter, even though now it’s time to promote it, which takes just as much work as making the thing in the first place. I submitted to several festivals. The first notification date is on my birthday. Fingers crossed for a film fest birthday present.
OH HEY. I’m trying to build a community of early reviewers. If you’d like to see the movie now, click that blue button, drop your email into the form and I’ll send you the private link. It’s the movie and all the behind the scenes stuff I haven’t posted because of spoilers. I would love to hear your feedback, especially since this one is so different. There is a lot of room for interpretation.
The link takes you to my Ten Wing Media site since I can’t embed an email form here. If you have any thoughts or ideas for this process, feel free to leave a comment below. It’s an evolving idea.
✍️Writing
I have a story called The Hymn That Awaits on an audio compilation called Describe Fear volume 2. Little Headbutt Studios is the label and it’s available on their Bandcamp site. My story is about a recluse that collects junk to build an infernal musical instrument. What happens when he finishes? Listen to find out…
Exotique, the next anthology from Braced Books, comes out later this year and I have a story in it called The Shimmering Chamber. It involves kidnapping, hallucinations, fish, and creatures of the deep. The pitch: A woman regains consciousness during a horrific ritual and must escape to save her son. It turned out a bit more violent than I anticipated but hey, these things happen. Release is sometime in 2025.
I have a short story called The Last Pot Roast in an anthology slated for Q1 of 2026. I can’t say too much about that one yet.
My primary goal going forward is to finish my debut collection, The Book of the Cold Sun (hopefully volume 1). Those stories build my own cosmic horror mythology and will connect to my future writing and films.
🎙️Podcasting
The Mythos Minute Podcast
All episodes are edited and scheduled! That’s 77-105. Hard to believe I’ve recorded that many episodes. I want to say thanks again to all the great contributors and I hope you like my performance. This batch will release on Mondays and Thursdays up until the week of Halloween. Then I’ll probably take a break. I wanted to optimize the recordings as much as possible for the various YouTubes and social mediaz, and it was a tall amount of work for one person. I need to spend a little time on my other projects so they don’t fall behind. Translation: I’m screaming to write fiction for awhile.

Alley Chats
I was a guest on Alley Chats with Rob Southgate last week. We talked about writing, filmmaking, creativity, and marketing. When it’s out, I’ll post.
🍃Personal Stuff
Are you what you eat? Are you the things you like? Are we the things we make? All of the above? Or none? Maybe one reason I’m so obsessed with creativity and making things is that I feel like it’s my mark on the world, something that will outlast me even if no one sees it. Are my projects some kind of legacy or explanation of who I am or what I find interesting? Are these films and stories my monuments?
What happened? I spaced out for a minute…
📺Watching
The B-Movie Mania boys finished up our 13th 24-Hour B-Movie Marathon a couple weeks ago, so I watched A LOT of movies. Winterbeast was my favorite on this list. It is pure “wtf.” Have you seen the end of Teenage Mother? If your graphic birth was included in a feature film, would you tell anyone? That baby is late 50s now and I wonder where they are.
KPop Demon Hunters - My daughter sings all the songs. I get it.
Unknown Number - WHAT A TWIST. My wife and I like watching documentaries together and this was one of the best we’ve seen in awhile. The less you know going in, the better. Some amazing, big moments caught on camera.
📖 Reading
I finished Thongor and the Dragon City and now I’m working on The Amber Enchantress. I’m in a fantasy mood, I guess.
🎵 Listening
I love this jam. Dirty Money by Ida Maria. I heard it on Peacemaker. James Gunn has some good taste in music.
